Ivanov criticized our politicians and the European Union in MANU

-

Leaders need to find a solution out of the political crisis, said President of Macedonia Gjorgje Ivanov at the second international scientific conference “Macedonian-Slovak literary, cultural and spiritual links” held in MANU.

– Macedonian leaders must break down mental walls and bury mental trenches. In such complex conditions, the leaders of political parties must as soon as possible, through dialogue, reach a solution that will overcome the political crisis – said Ivanov, who stressed that we are faced with three political crises, each deeper, in only six years.

He added that the EU, rather integrating the Balkans, started building new walls.

– Closing in itself and turning into a fortress, it seems as Europe is undermining its own foundations. No state, even Macedonia, is immune to these processes. Not only that Thessaloniki promise has not been fulfilled, but the enlargement policy is facing stagnation. For 10 years, Macedonia is on the agenda for expansion due to the blockade of the southern neighbor. The blockade led us to have three political crises, each more serious than before, in only six years – said Ivanov.

He stressed that Macedonian citizens anxiously witness as mental walls build and the political trenches deepen with each new political crisis.

– It is harder to see the human face of the political opponent from the high walls and deep trenches – said the head of state.
