Inspectorate: There are no computers or equipment, so there are no IT classes in schools

-

Due to the non-functional class of information technology, teachers are unable to realize (Information and Communications Technology) in their teaching. This was stated in the latest report by education inspectors, who also recommended that schools find a way to solve the issue of greater use of computers in lessons.

Since schools do not have the ability to buy computer devices on their own to solve this problem, the question is when does the Ministry of Education and Science plan on purchasing computers for students?

Minister Arber Ademi stated that there is no money in the budget for the procurement of new equipment, and it is known that the old devices from the project “A Computer for Every Child” are dysfunctional and dilapidated, and most of the equipment has long been in the garbage.

“In Information Technology classes, we need to teach children how to create applications, how to create technology, and how to use these things. However, computers are needed for other subjects. They need to use technology to make their lessons interesting. The main focus of teaching in the world is creating, so that students can create different things on their own. Creating is the highest level of knowledge according to Bloom’s taxonomy. If there are no ICTs, creative education, creation, learning through research can not be applied. This kind of active teaching that is being promoted is much more achievable with ICTs”,  says Mile Jovanov, President of the Association of Information Technology and Professor at the Faculty of Information Sciences and Computer Engineering.

He stressed that if children at home are surrounded by smart TVs, video games, smartphones, tablets, then teaching can not be far from that course.

“Without technology, lessons are boring. It is necessary for the state to procure new equipment, but also to invest in the quality of teachers, training and networking”, adds Jovanov.

Teachers in Information Technology often improvise in lessons in order to be able to communicate the curriculum to students. They often carry laptops and other devices from home, so they can explain practically what they teach. Students often use their smartphones for apps or when they need to search for something.
