According to the referral document from the Criminal court, Nikola Gruevski will have to report today at the prison in Shuto Orizari, in order to serve his sentence of two years in prison because of the “Tank” case.
Starting from yesterday, the criminal court began receiving single pleas by all attorneys from Gruevski’s team upon the judge’s decision, who rejected to postpone his serving of the sentence. At the court’s address, a personal plea will arrive from Gruevski, after which the deadline of three days will start running out and during which the Criminal Court will have to decide whether it will postpone his sentence or he will be directed to serve his sentence immediately.
By filing a plea, the sentence is automatically delayed and depending on the time that the criminal court needs to make a decision, but it is limited to three days.
Yesterday, the Committee on rules of procedure, mandate and immunity affairs, with the majority of votes “for” has sent a recommendation to the Parliament to cancel his mandate as an MP of VMRO-DPMNE.
What will follow is a plenary session where a two third majority is needed in order to cancel his mandate, and if that happens, the former prime minister will have to serve his sentence.
Last week, Gruevski was asking for a postponement of the sentence, but his plea was rejected.

Last night, in front of the basic court 1 Skopje, members and supporters of VMRO-DPMNE were demanding a justice for the former party leader and were protesting the verdict.
