Government Judicial Council “passes” Court Laws with reservations

The Council for Monitoring the Implementation of Strategy for Reform of the Judicial Sector, led by prime minister Zoran Zaev reviewed the draft laws for the courts and the Court Council, with “reservations”. However, according to the statement made by the Government, the draft laws are t be used next week in Parliament. Namely, the deputy minister for justice, Oliver Ristevski said that next Wednesday, MPs in Parliament will discuss the propose changes.

At a second session, also preceded by the Constituent Meeting last week, the Council for Monitoring the Implementation of Strategy for Reform of the Judicial Sector, discussed the proposed legal provisions regarding the responsibility of judges, as well as the protection of proposed members in the draft. The members of the council had some reservations regarding the draft law on the Judicial Council of the Republic of Macedonia, according to the government statement.

On Tuesday, the second session of the Council was attended by representatives from OSCE, who in the future will follow the sessions.
