The United Kingdom is faithful supporter of Macedonia since its independence in its Euro-Atlantic integration and a true friend in difficult times, and that friendship is the strongest, said British Ambassador Charles Garrett in last night’s address at the ceremony in Skopje on the occasion of the birthday of the Queen. The ceremony was attended by Speaker of the Macedonian Assembly Trajko Veljanoski, Government Ministers, MPs, representatives of political parties, the business community and civil sector, members of the diplomatic corps, military attaches and other guests.
– You received the candidate status for EU membership during the British presidency of the EU in 2005. Every year since then we have worked together on strengthening civil society, police and defense reform, media, public administration and economy. UK will always be a sincere friend of Macedonia, even in difficult moments, and sincere friendship is strongest. The United Kingdom is also determined supporter of Macedonia’s membership in NATO. We look forward when Macedonia will sit at the same table with us in the Alliance – said Ambassador Garrett.
