Filipche: New cases of COVID-19 in Skopje and Ohrid contracted at celebrations – which are banned

-

We have new clusters and unfortunately, I have to state that people have failed to comply with the protective measures. Despite the ban, people organize mass gatherings and that is absolutely devoid of logic. We have citizens that are gathering even though it is banned. Weddings cannot be held when they are banned. Citizens cannot gather since it is forbidden to do so, Health Minister Venko Filipce said during today’s press conference. He also said that he doesn’t think the state of emergency has to be extended.

-By providing access to testing locations, including isolation of all contacts, the situation in Shtip and Tetovo area is gradually getting better. Chair remains the municipality with the highest number of infected patients. There were celebrations in Ohrid and Skopje, and there are new cases because of that. Epidemiologists have problems with the accurateness of the data they are provided with. There are violations of the self-isolation measure and the groupings measure. There is a decree with which anyone violating the self-isolation measure or is providing false information will be quarantined for a period of 14 days and will be forced to pay the expenses – said Filipche.

He also informed this wave of COVID-19 is still ongoing, even though several hotspots are gradually extinguished.
