Crowded apartments reveal why we had 1.8 million voters out of 2 million people

-

With the discovery of buildings, apartments, and houses full with phantom voters, it became clear how it was possible in a country of 2 million people, to have 1.8 million people on the electoral roll.

The enigma was solved after the launch of the web application for checking the voter lists. Only one week before Ilija Dimovski from VMRO-DPMNE, wrote that Macedonia has 2.4 million citizens.

Citizens found a series of irregularities while verifying their personal data on the voter lists. On social media many people wrote that at their addresses, according to the lists, live people who they do not know, that the list is full of names of the deceased and with many citizens that many years ago migrated from Macedonia.

On February 18, however, Dimovski in a column in daily “Dnevnik”, titled “Facts about Macedonians from Pustec” come up with a theory that Macedonia has 2.4 million citizens, and therefore the voter list has 1,804,000 voters.

The latest official data on how many people there are in Macedonia (not citizens) is from the 2002 census, according to which Macedonia has 2,022,547 inhabitants, which is 3.9 percent more than in the 1994 census.

According to the latest update to the data from the State Statistical Office (as of June 30, 2014) in the Republic of Macedonia there are 2,067,471 inhabitants.
