Chancellor Merkel and Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic send positive signals about Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations, but what lacks is the Law on Public Prosecution

-

During yesterday’s meeting between the German Chancellor Angel Merkel and the Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Merkel stressed that she hopes that there will be an advancement in the opening of the EU accession negotiations with Macedonia and Albania at the Summit scheduled on the 5th and 6th of May in Zagreb.

-The Western Balkans Summit that will take place in Zagreb is a very important matter because of the problems with the start of the negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania. We are hoping that there will be an improvement in that domain at the EU Summit – said Merkel after the meeting with Plenkovic.

Plenkovic has stressed that the EU Summit will give a real perspective in relations between the EU and the neighboring countries.

The EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, during his recent visit to Macedonia appealed that the political parties should adjust their stances about the Law on Public Prosecution and stated that this law should prioritized.

If the parties achieve this, according to him, it will be a good sign for the member countries about the country’s readiness to deliver what is asked of it.
