Žbogar: It is too early to surrender, get depressed or disappointed

-

EU Ambassador Samuel Žbogar, asked to comment on statements made by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev that if Macedonia does not receive a date for negotiations, he might hand back the mandate and call elections, said that all is not over.

“I do not have any new information, but I can say that it is not finished until everything is over. However, the European Commission’s position is that the country is ready to move to the next step. EC President Jean-Claude Juncker said he would do everything in his power to lobby the member states to begin negotiations with North Macedonia”, Žbogar said.

He added that “it is too early to surrender and we should not get depressed or disappointed.”

“It’s time for everyone to engage and persuade EU member states that the country is ready to start the negotiations,” added Žbogar, who was in Berovo today.
