Definitely, I will not accept any postponement of the census until 2021 said Prime Minister Zoran Zaev at today’s press conference when he replied to a question regarding the announced meetings with the opposition this week where they will be discussing the Law on Census.
He stressed that the standards of the European Union’s Eurostat Statistical service’s standards just like anywhere else in the world.
Definitely the census will happen next year. If we had a census in 2011 maybe there would have been a basis for the delay of the census until 2021, but it didn’t. The census will not be postponed – said Zaev.
The Prime Minister stressed that each household that lives either in this country or has moved out of it no longer than a year will be evidenced in the census. Anyone living abroad more than a year will be evidenced but not as a household and will be evidenced as diaspora, either as a family or a citizen that lives abroad.
Zaev said that in the last two years they have been receiving the data from MOI and in each moment it is known when a citizen has been staying abroad for more than two years.
-The situation is clear and we only have to sit and provide a positive pass because the pre-census as a project was successful. We are expecting for the law itself to pass at the Parliament in order for the computers to be procured. The field evidencing will be from the 1st of April until 30th of April next year.

The draft law for the census of the population was on today’s agenda of the parliamentary committee debate, but the debate as part of the Committee for European Affairs was stopped.
