Zaev condemns yesterday’s incident on Vodno, while MER demand disciplinary action

-

Today, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev condemned yesterday’s incident on Vodno, when one of the workers asked for an excavator to drive towards the activists from the “I Love Vodno” initiative, who had formed a protective shield to disrupt the work taking place.

“Firstly, I would like to express my sorrow at the behavior of excavator drivers and any other representatives, workers or any other citizens present. I absolutely condemn such an event when a human life is under threat or that someone will attack human a life just to do his job,” said Zaev answering a journalist’s question.

He said that the project on Vodno will be of enormous environmental, but also economic value for the citizens.

“Each pipe saves thousands of trees, above all on Vodno, and on Shar Mountain, because the pipeline leads to Tetovo and Gostivar. I hope that together we will carefully and vigorously continue to monitor the project for the realization of the gasification that passes at the foot of Vodno, because any other alternative can only cause more damage than we now have,” the prime minister said.

The state-owned company “Macedonian Energy Resources” (MER) said that it was asked by the company headed by the consortium who are building the pipeline that the worker who ordered the excavators to drive towards the activists, not to appear at the construction site and that disciplinary action will be taken against him.

Today, activists from the initiative “I Love Vodno” had demanded disciplinary action be taken against the worker in question.
