Unbecoming Post Calls for Violence and Satanizes EU and NATO

Flag raising ceremony to mark the accession of North Macedonia to NATO with remarks by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Delegation of North Macedonia to NATO, Zoran Todorov

This manipulative post is spreading the well-known insulting, indecent propaganda narrative satanizing NATO and the EU. Contrary to the claim made in the post, NATO is not connected with a religious army, but the Alliance enrolls troops regardless of their religious background. The values advocated by the EU have nothing to do with legalization of pedophilia. Quite the opposite, pedophilia is a criminal act in all EU member-states. The purpose of such propaganda against the West and NATO is discrediting and it has been going on for a longer period, and especially enhanced after the condemnation of Russian invasion of Ukraine, writes Vistinomer in their analysis that we republish in full.

We are fact-checking a post on the social network Facebook claiming the following:

Death to satanic NATO anti-Christ’s army of fag*ot pedophile EU the strategic partners of DpSneUdba and hydroMicko LA*NAR with his LOBOTOMIZED voters.

Apart from the fact that the post contains indecent language – insulting to the group of voters of political parties in Macedonia – this post stresses alleged values advocated by the EU and NATO that do not really correspond with the values EU and NATO stand for and the reasons for the existence of NATO. Posts where NATO leaders are proclaimed “Satanists” are not new but are part of a well-planned propaganda machinery promoting this narrative as to smear the Alliance. In the past, photographs were abused to trick the public into believing that NATO-leaders in the world were Satanists. Truthmeter has already covered that story and it can be found here.

Saying that NATO is “anti-Christ’s army” is pretentious and arbitrary, unsubstantiated with facts because NATO Alliance is not connected with a religious army, and soldiers can become NATO troops regardless of their religious background. On 1 March 2007 in Brussels, the address of the former Secretary General of NATO, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer specified the following:

Allow me, at this point, to say a few more words about the interrelationship between values and interests. The transatlantic community is a community based on the Judaeo-Christian Humanist tradition. And I am certainly not the first to observe that much of what NATO is doing these days is to engage in regions of predominantly Muslim belief. In Bosnia, and later in Kosovo, NATO used force to protect innocent civilians most of whom were Muslims. And NATO’s largest military operation today takes place in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Not surprisingly, perhaps, some observers, Christians, and Muslims alike, have questioned NATO’s motivation. Is NATO’s agenda an attempt to impose distinct Western values on non-Western societies? Are we trying to re-shape the world in our image? Ladies and gentlemen, nothing could be further from the truth, said Jaap de Hoop Scheffer in his address.

He added:

Yes, NATO is an association of Western countries. Yes, with the exception of secular Muslim Turkey, NATO is predominantly an Alliance of Christian countries. Each December, the NATO compound here in Brussels is illuminated by a huge Christmas tree. But the values that NATO stands for are not uniquely Christian. The values that we promote and defend through our engagement are universal values. The right of women to go to school is a universal right. The right to choose your own religion, and not having to fear the death penalty for doing so, is a universal right. The right to elect your democratic government in a free and fair election is a universal right These are the values we are defending, from the Balkans to Afghanistan. They are non-negotiable. But they are neither uniquely Western, nor are they uniquely Christian. Indeed, I believe that countries from all parts of the globe, and from all major religions, should be able to agree on them. For they are the true foundation for mankind’s survival in the 21st century, he said, inter alia, in his address.

For a longer period now propaganda against the West and NATO is undertaken thereby satanizing this organization with no arguments whatsoever. This especially intensified after NATO condemned Russia’s brutal and unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine – which is an independent and democratic country and a close NATO partner. NATO and Allies continue to provide support to Ukraine helping it to uphold its fundamental right to self-defence.

The propaganda narrative with the hate-speech “fag*ot pedophile European Union” is also persistent in the internet area for the purpose of discrediting the EU, although the values advocated by the EU cannot be further away from legalization of pedophilia. Quite the opposite, pedophilia is a criminal offence in all EU Member-States. According to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, point 34 specifies that governments should protect children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse, including by people forcing children to have sex for money, or making sexual pictures or films of them. Child pornography is punishable and represents a criminal offence throughout Europe. The fact that European countries provide for the right to sexual determination is abused by the post we are fact-checking and used as hate-speech against LGBT community to humiliate this group. On top of that, voters using their Constitutional right to free political willpower are insulted and called “lobotomized”.

Due to all of the above-noted facts, the post is assessed as untrue. It gathers together several untrue narratives about the EU and NATO, thereby spreading hate-speech, calls for violence, and even death.
