The Greek Prime Minister Alexi Tsipras is expected during the day to announce the new composition of the government. Tsipras after six months in power, decided to reconstruct and to change the governmental cabinet because of division in the parliamentary group and among his ministers over the new package of measures agreed by the European lenders.
The decision came after several ministers voted against the package, including Energy Minister Panagiotis Lafazanis, who was considered a close associate of Tsipras and one of the key officials in SYRIZA.
The intention to change the government’s composition was announced by Tsipras late yesterday evening, in a conversation with co-workers and officials of the party. According to sources in governmental cabinet, the Greek Prime Minister said that 32 MPs who voted against the measures are no longer considered part of the parliamentary group of SYRIZA.
Tsipras assessed that the decision to vote against the measures was made in order to turn back to the first leftist government, since on the last meeting of the parliamentary group of the majority of MPs noted that they agree that European threats and dangers are real.
According to him, despite the fact that this consent it was voted against the measures is a decision of the group MPs not to share with the rest of the 110 MPs of SYRIZA, the responsibility for saving the state, and the decision is inconsistent with the need for solidarity in these critical moments.
– I am bound to continue until the completion and approved of the agreement with a government that supports minority parliamentary majority of 300 MPs – noted Tsipras.
