One of the officers yesterday who was seriously injured in the incident on the southern border, was held for further treatment at the Clinical Center “Mother Teresa” in Skopje, while four have been released from hospital.

Yesterday, during the intervention between the Macedonian security forces with a crowd of several thousand migrants who tried to illegally enter Macedonian territory from Greece, 14 policemen and nine members of the Army were injured.

During the collision, according to the Ministry of Interior 3 vehicles of the Interior Ministry were damaged and 5 vehicles from the Army.

The MOI told “Meta” since last night and this morning the conditions of the line and quota 59 is peaceful and without major tensions.

“Of the five seriously injured police officers, four were released from hospital, and one has been kept in the Clinical Center “Mother Teresa” in Skopje. His condition is stable, but the doctors assessed that he should held for observation”, said the Chief of the Department for Protocol and Public Relations of the Ministry of Interior, Natalia Spirova-Kordic.

Yesterday, at about 11:00 am, a group of 1,000 to 2,000 migrants began violent protests just 100-200 meters from the border, at quota 59 by throwing stones and various objects at members of the Macedonian security forces. After this, the police and the military took measures to stop the migrants, and also used tear gas.

About 15:00 yesterday, border security was raised to the highest level after information was received that migrants were preparing Molotov cocktails, however, the situation never came to that.

The migrants threw stones at the Macedonian security forces, and this lasted until 18:00.
