Greece has sent two notes of protest to Macedonia due to incidents on the border

-

Greece has sent a note of protest to Macedonia, condemning the violent incidents with the refugees at the border.

According to a statement by the Greek Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Greek Ambassador to Macedonia, Theocharis Lalakos, delivered two demarches to the Macedonian authorities concerning the situation in Idomeni.

Lalakos noted that the use of violence will not help solve the refugee problem and goes against international and humanitarian law.

“Ambassador Lalakos made it clear and indicated that the use of violence, in no way helps resolve the refugee problem and goes against all provisions of international and humanitarian law. He urged the neighboring country to respond adequately and by the requirements of the situation and demonstrate sufficient responsibility, restraint and sobriety “, said the statement from the Greek Foreign Ministry.

The Greek socialist party, known as PASOK, asked Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to resign because in their opinion, the Government has again shown its incapability to protect the Greek citizens or the refugees.
