At today’s plenary session, the Parliament speaker, Talat Xhaferri, confirmed that the SEC members’ mandates are ended after they handed over their resignations.
He didn’t announce when and how will the procedure for electing new members of SEC continue.
Their resignations occurred after the public’s pressure when the US Ambassador revealed that at a closed session the members decided to give each other bonuses for the carrying out the local elections.
The new eight members have to be voted with a two-thirds majority.
