Forests around the Macedonian-Greek border are filled with immigrants

-

The wave of immigrants and political refugees from the Greek islands are redirected to the Macedonian-Greek border. Through Macedonia and Serbia, thousands of new immigrants will seek their fortune in Northern and Western Europe, which are their main goal after arriving in Greece.
According to information in Greece, the forests around border crossing Idomeni, through which the railway line between Macedonia and Greece is passing, these days are flooded with immigrants, who are preparing to walk cross the border, and then to manage to find transportation to European countries. Reports the newspaper “Ethnos” conveys that Idomeni village, where the border crossing is located, is flooded with waste and presents a temporary mainstay of all traveling on foot to Macedonia. Immigrants usually spend the night at the train station that is open 24 hours, and then walk along the railway to Gevgelija, hoping to pass undetected and continue their journey to the EU. Residents of the small village stated for the newspaper that every day about 200 people, many of them with young children, cross from Greece to Macedonia by foot.
