At today’s press conference, SDSM spokesman Petre Shilegov, when asked about the case with the arrest of former intelligence officer Zoran Verushevski, said the case was politically manipulated.
– According to the information that is available to the public, as well as the statements of the lawyer of Mr. Verushevski, it becomes clear that the search of his home is made under suspicion of espionage. But then, Mr. Verushevski is suspected of illegal possession of weapons and allegedly showing pornographic material to a child. And last, the detention was imposed solely and exclusively for illegal possession of weapons. This indicates that the case of Mr. Verushevski is politically manipulated. Leadership of SDSM doesn’t have close contacts with Mr. Verushevski. But, he is a former senior government official. Social Democratic Union of Macedonia is closely following the development of his case. If institutions don’t clear the chaos with Verushevski quickly, an appropriate reaction from the party will follow – said Shilegov.
