For the mega project “Skopje 2014”, the Government spent 580 million euros instead of the announced 80 million, accuses SDSM. Party spokesman Petre Shilegov said that there currently are 800 contracts for the project, while only 276 are in an open procedure.
– This year, “Skopje 2014” will cost an extra 46 million euros. With the total amount of 584 million, the Government could have increased the salaries of teachers by 5.000 denars, to buy the entire crop of tobacco worth 15 million euros, pay 3 million euros in damages to farmers whose herds got sick of “blue tongue”, buy trains instead of taking loans for them, to build European roads rather than to borrow from the Chinese bank. This project is a bottomless pit – said Shilegov at a press conference.
