“The international community is becoming louder in its condemnation of the Government, which by pressure, threats and manipulated cases, wants to save itself from the publication of evidence of its criminal rule. It is confirmed by the Declaration of the Presidency of the Party of European Socialists, which was adopted yesterday in Brussels. European Socialists, united and at the highest level, appealed to Nikola Gruevski’s Government to respect fundamental democratic values,” said Radmila Sekerinska, vice-president of SDSM, at today’s press conference.
– Presidency of PES repeated already expressed criticism of the government for “selective justice and increased partisanship” and concluded that the allegations made by Nikola Gruevski indicate exactly what is written in the reports of the EU. “Conditions that resemble authoritarianism” and “undermined democracy” are formulations with which European Socialists request the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary in Macedonia. To show its support for SDSM, as well as to return democracy and transparency, PES decided to prepare and send a delegation to the Republic of Macedonia to fully comprehend the situation in the country and the challenge which the Macedonian democracy is facing. The growing concern of the international and European allies about the events that happened in Macedonia is evident. A growing number of them loudly speak for the need to defend the democratic values in Macedonia. Everything is clear. Nikola Gruevski carries out a coup against the Republic of Macedonia, occupying all institutions and trampling its citizens step by step. The day when he will bear responsibility for that is upon him – said Shekerinska.
