Samaras angry with London: Greek history cannot be shared or borrowed!

-

Greece is angry with the decision of the British Museum to borrow part of Parthenon Marbles to Russia. After the news caused numerous reactions at the social media, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras criticized and condemned the museum in London, who categorized the move as an insult to the Greek people.

According to Samaras, this move annuls the British argument that they won’t allow marbles from the Parthenon to be moved and therefore they don’t want to return them to Greece, as well as the argument that there is no adequate space to keep marbles from the time the new Acropolis Museum was opened.

“Parthenon and the marbles were subject to theft. The marbles are priceless. We, as Greeks, are identified with the history and our culture, and they cannot be shared or borrowed, lend and given away!”, said Samaras in an already known tone about the importance of Greek history and archaeological artifacts to the Greek identity.
