Russia is building a gas pipeline in Macedonia?!

-

The company “Strojtransgas” of Russian businessman Gennady Timchenko started building a branch of the main pipeline Klechovce-Negotino in Macedonia worth about 75 million US dollars, reports Russian newspaper Komersant, which cites a source familiar with the situation.

It is currently working on the first stage in a length of 61 kilometers and a diameter of 508 millimeters, which will allow the gas to get to Shtip.

The period of construction is more than a year, after which is projected the gas pipeline to continue to the TPP Negotino, with which it will start using gas instead of oil.

Then, another 60 kilometers of gas pipeline should be built in order to connect to the gas pipeline system in Greece.

The value is approximately 75 million US dollars. Of these, Macedonia will pay only 15 million US dollars, and the remaining amount will be annulled with the debt of former USSR towards Yugoslavia, for which, Skopje received part of the rights as well.
