Last week were registered 2,059 new people who caught the flu. Since the beginning of the season, their number is 10,545. Compared with the number of patients in the seventh week of last season, a decrease of 48.2 percent is registered this year, while there is also reduction in terms of the average number of ill people for the same week in the past ten years, which is 19.2 percent, reports “Zdravstvo24”.
Ill for this whole season were reported in almost all cities. Only Berovo was not affected by the flu. By cities, the largest number are in Tetovo – 1,805 (17.1 percent), Skopje – 1,747, Kumanovo – 1,498 and Prilep – 785. Eight new materials for testing flu, of which six were positive for the presence of influenza virus (influenza A two and four influenza B), arrived last week in the virology laboratory of the Institute of Public Health.
Since the beginning of the season 2014/2015, the virology laboratory of the Institute analyzed a total of 98 human material of outpatient and inpatient treatment of patients received from health facilities, of which 31, or 31.6 percent, were positive for influenza virus.
