Parliament: Only thing certain is the session will begin, everything else is up to the will to get out of this crisis

-

After a three-month break and negotiations, parliamentary political parties today will continue the constitutive session of Parliament, which began on December the 30th, last year and was discontinued because there was no agreed parliamentary majority and MPs were unable to elect a president of Parliament.

According to today’s agenda of the continuation of the constitutive session, which is scheduled for 12:00, the only two items on the agenda are the election of the members of the Commission for Elections and Appointments and the election of the president of Parliament.

This event is seen as a chance to further the process of forming a government after elections were held on December the 11th, last year. However, this chance is still uncertain due to major differences between the two largest political parties, and the fact that Gruevski used every opportunity to block or slow down the process.

SDSM believe that today, they will elect a new president of Parliament, while VMRO-DPMNE said that the only item on the agenda today is the election of members of the Commission of Elections and Appointments.

After days of negotiations, parties decided last week on Thursday, the Commission for Elections and Appointments will have 6 members from VMRO-DPMNE, 5 from SDSM, DUI and Besa will have one each, and the president of the Commission will be Ilija Dimovski from VMRO-DPMNE.
