The Government of North Macedonia in yesterday’s session reviewed and adopted the Information on the Accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to the Digital Europe (DIGITAL) program, prepared by the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, Government’s press service informs.
“DIGITAL is a new European Union’s program aimed at bringing the digital technologies closer to the businesses, the citizens and the public administration as a key step towards improving life and work, in a situation when the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us how important the development and the knowledge of technology are, as well as how important it is for Europe to not depend on systems and solutions coming from other regions of the world,” the Government said in a statement.
The DIGITAL program provides strategic funding, supporting projects in five key areas: supercomputers, artificial intelligence, cyber security, advanced digital skills and providing a broad use of digital technologies throughout the economy and the society, encompassing, of course, the digital innovation hubs.
The aim is to accelerate the economic recovery and shape the digital transformation of the European society and economy, delivering benefits for all, especially for the small and medium enterprises.
All EU countries are members of the program, joined by all the countries of the European Economic Community, and there is a possibility of showing interest by the candidate countries, as well as the countries of the Neighbourhood programs.
By adopting this Information, the Government is launching the negotiation process with the European Commission for participation in the DIGITAL program.
“This will provide opportunities for financing projects of all the companies, institutions and civil society organizations that will apply with projects for the digitization of the calls encomassed by this,” the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia informs.
