The statement by the head of the Islamic Religious Community in Macedonia, Reis-ul-Ulema Hadzi Sulejman Efendi Rexhepi, made for Lajm, in which he argued that “Macedonian Muslims don’t exist and that they are the Devil’s work and represent an in vitro nation created by the party VMRO-DPMNE” was widely condemned by the Macedonians in Albania.
So far, official reaction was made by Macedonian association “Ilinden” from Tirana and the branch of Golo Brdo, region with the highest concentration of Macedonian Muslims.
– Macedonian Muslims in Albania have their tradition and are indigenous to this region. Macedonian association “Ilinden” condemns the statement by the head of IRC and believes that it is inappropriate, unacceptable and irresponsible. It is a rough insult of the Macedonian Muslims in Albania.
