New Macedonian Ambassador to Athens Darko Angelov met today with Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas. The first meeting of the two diplomats was primarily an opportunity to meet each other and discuss the possibility of intensifying cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was spent in the protocol and good climate.
Angelov comes to Athens from Budapest, where he was head of the Macedonian Embassy in Hungary and as successor to former ambassador and head of the Macedonian consular office Sashko Stefkov.
Macedonia’s new ambassador in Athens comes at an interesting time of a possible reversal on the political scene, political turbulence due to the elections and great polarization among the political parties, which further narrows the space of possibilities and will of the Greek political leaders to resolve the name dispute.
