Kotevski on Zaev’s statement over the possible postponement of elections: April 24 is the peak of the Przhino Agreement

-

Any attempt to jeopardise the ultimate goal of the Przhino Agreement or more specifically the elections on April 24, is jeopardising the entire agreement and the only way out of this political crisis, says for “Meta” the Director of the Centre for VMRO-DPMNE, Ivo Koteski. Ivo Kotevski responded when he was asked to comment on today’s statement by the SDSM leader Zoran Zaev that he will discuss with Commissioner Johannes Hahn the possibility of moving the April elections to June or even in September.

“The only way out of this political crisis are the elections in April 24, which is the peak of the Przhino Agreement. Macedonian citizens expect the agreement to be implemented and the country to continue to follow its path of its reforms. Any attempt to jeopardise the ultimate goal of the agreement, which are the the elections on April 24, is jeopardising the entire agreement”, said Mr Kotevski.

He said that the core of the Przhino Agreement “is not to become a technical minister without a mandate from the citizens”, but to find a way out of the political crisis.

Today the SDSM leader Zoran Zaev in a statement he gave to “Meta” said that although there still was no agreement on postponing the elections, the decision would be discussed with all the signatories of the Przhino Agreement in a meeting with EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn , who is expected to arrive in Skopje this week.

Zaev said that they “might come to the conclusion that September is an ideal date” for holding early parliamentary elections.
