The leader of SDSM will not confirm nor deny the speculations that parliamentary elections will be held in late June this year.
In a statement to “Meta” he went as far to say that “we might conclude that September is an ideal date,” but emphasized that there is still no agreement to move the elections, and said, that the decision should be discussed with all signatories to the Przhino Agreement at the meeting with European Commissioner Johannes Hahn in Skopje.
“For now, there has been no concrete agreement to move the elections which are scheduled for April 24. Perhaps in municipal organizations we have talked about the deadlines for when the electoral roll should be renewed or to find a solution on the media. For specific dates, we will discuss that at the meeting with Johannes Hahn in Skopje, but that does not mean that the elections could not be held in April or June. We may even conclude that the ideal date for elections will be in September. However this will be discussed with the European Commissioner in Skopje and with the other parties who are signatories to the Przhino Agreement. If I get, however, firm guarantees that the elections will be free and fair, they can be held on April 24”, the SDSM leader Zoran Zaev told “Meta”.
Zaev would not confirm the unofficial information that at the meetings with SDSM municipal organizations across Macedonia that they have been discussing moving the date for the elections, but said that they had made no concrete conclusions.
Tomorrow in Skopje MEPs Richard Howitt, Eduard Kukan and Ivo Vajgl arrive in Skopje, and during the week Commissioner Johannes Hahn is also expected to arrive, who is to determined to fulfil and implement the Przhino Agreement.
