Kate Byrnes sworn in as new US Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia

Kate Marie Byrnes was sworn in as the new US Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia.

Byrnes is a career diplomat and arrives from Athens where she was Deputy Ambassador to Greece since 2017.

Previously, she was the Deputy Chief of Mission and the Deputy United States Permanent Representative at the United States Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Vienna, Austria

During her career, she served as Public Affairs Counselor at the United States Embassy Madrid, Spain, Department of State Senior Civilian Representative to Task Force Bastogne/Bronco, Jalalabad Airfield, Afghanistan.

She has also worked as a Public Affairs Advisor to the United States Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Brussels, Belgium, from 2007-2010. She also represented US interests in Spain, Bolivia, Hungary, and Turkey.

Her appointment was also commented by acting Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker highlighted that Ambassador Byrnes will guide a new era of bilateral cooperation, as friends and Allies of the Republic of North Macedonia.

The ceremony was attended by friends, family, colleagues and several former US Ambassadors to our country.

Byrnes will be replacing Jess Baily who left his position in March this year.
