Greeks to choose between changes and status quo today

-

Over 9.8 million Greek citizens today decide the future of the country in the most critical elections in the country so far. Hope for a change with SYRIZA which will inject a dose of uncertainty in the negotiations with the European creditors or continuation of the policy of New Democracy in order not to “rock the Greek boat”.
Voting ends at 7 pm and the first official results are expected at 9:30 pm local time.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the voting in 19,449 voting centers runs smoothly and without incidents. There are delays due to problems with the weather in some election centers throughout Greece and on the Greek islands.
The main star of the elections is the head of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras, who was intercepted in front of his constituency by hundreds of journalists and photographers. Greece and Europe have no doubt that SYRIZA would win the election, but they are impatiently waiting for the dilemma whether Tsipras will fail to get a high enough support to be able to form a government, or will try to form a coalition government, to be resolved. After ten minutes of futile attempts to comment due to vast media presence, Tsipras got up on a stool to be able to send a final message to voters.
– The responsibility belongs to all. Today is a historic day, pride and dignity are coming back. Today, Greek people need to make the move that will restore hope, put an end to fear and to restore democracy and the dignity of the country. The dilemma is clear, people have to decide whether Greece will return measures that Samaras determined or hard negotiations to recover dignity would begin tomorrow – said Tsipras with a confidence of an already elected Prime Minister.
Current Prime Minister Antonis Samaras expressed hope and optimism for the victory.
– I am optimistic that no one will put the European perspective of our country at risk. We will win – emphasized Samaras, adding that government of SYRIZA would jeopardize European status of Greece.
Even in the last moments, he directly addressed the undecided voters, with hope that it will be able to lift the rating of New Democracy, which, according to recent polls, is around 7 percent behind SYRIZA.
