Five clothing factories in Shtip closed while the city is close to being put under lockdown

-

If the number of people infected with COVID-19 continues to rise, Shtip together with Skopje and Tetovo will highly likely be put under lockdown, just as city of Debar was. This was announced during a press conference by the State Secretary at the Health Ministry, Vladimir Miloshev.

Taking into account the extended weekend, with Friday being a non-working day, these new measures could be put into force starting from Wednesday.

With the 27 new cases of people infected with coronavirus in Shtip, five more clothing factories with 600 employees were also closed. In the clothing factory which has become a coronavirus hotspot, out of 110 employees, 55 were confirmed as infected. As of today, there is one new case at two other clothing factories. At the Infectious Ward of the Shtip General Hospital, 15 patients are being treated and over 255 people were put into isolation.

If there is a need, all textile workers at the closed factories will be tested. The epidemiologists from Shtip will be assisted by colleagues from surrounding cities, Kochani and Strumica, in order to speed up the testings.
