Defense Minister of North Macedonia: We are not sending soldiers to Ukraine

There is a decision for sending aid in the form of equipment and arms to Ukraine, in accordance with their requests, but this country hasn’t made a decision to send soldiers. There will be no such decision, said Defense Minister of North Macedonia, Slavjanka Petrovska, during the celebration of the Macedonian Army Special Forces Battalion Day. She said that the decisions are made by NATO and they are respected by the Alliance’s members.

North Macedonia will send aid, such as military equipment, said the minister, who also said that this information is classified and no further details can be shared.

North Macedonia’s army (ARM)’s capacity hasn’t decreased with this donation, which is made in accordance with the list containing the Ukrainian requests.

“The list that was sent was sent to all the and is very large. It contains many items of different profiles. We gladly provided them with assistance, wherever we could” clarified Petrovska.

When she addressed the soldiers, the minister said that the forming of the Special Forces marked the start of the army’s professionalizatio,n which is complete today.
