Bulgarians rushed for lamb and gasoline in Macedonia

-

Bulgarian citizens in border areas buy gasoline and lamb in Macedonia, report Bulgarian media.
– Dozens of Kyustendil citizens regularly get their gasoline in neighboring Macedonia – stated an employee of the Bulgarian border crossing Gyeshevo for Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
Former border policeman from Kyustendil stated for BNR that a liter of petrol in Macedonia is cheaper by 16.36 denars and that he fills the tank of the car of 170 liters in Kriva Palanka.
Bulgarian daily “Monitor” last week reported that Bulgarian citizens buy lamb from Macedonia and Serbia for their Easter table, where this meat is cheaper. Lamb in Sofia is sold at a price of 440 denars, while in Macedonia is about 120 denars less. The newspaper said that many of the border areas are opting to buy lamb in Serbia, where a pound of meat is about 126 denars.
– Sellers slaughter the animal on the spot, but they give you everything – head, organs. It is cheaper and it’s fresh – stated 35-year-old citizen of Kyustendil for “Monitor”.
Bulgarian border authorities say that there are frequent attempts to bring lamb from Macedonia in the pre-Easter period, which is prohibited in accordance with Bulgarian and European law, even for personal use.
– Two lambs bought in the Kriva Palanka region were confiscated on Friday at the border crossing Gyeshevo – stated Bulgarian customs officers.
Bulgarian media reported that residents of border areas, often go to neighboring Macedonia to buy cheese, eggs, raisins and other food products because the prices are lower.
