Significantly weakened Internet, a number of web portals that cannot be loaded or are loaded after long wait for any information related to the “bomb” a huge movement on the social networks – these are the results of the event of the day, i.e. the press conference of Zoran Zaev, which became the event of the Internet in recent Macedonian history.
Several users of Twitter, including journalists, during the press conference tweeted live under the hashtag #бомба. The hashtag has 4,085 tweets until now. Yesterday this hashtag had 2,477 tweets, while on 8th of February (two days ago), this hashtag had only 112 tweets.
Web portals “Plusinfo”, “Libertas” and “Nova TV” also experienced slowness of web pages and the occasional crashing during the press conference of Zaev. All of them, as well as the aggregator “Tajm.mk” had a record, unprecedented attendance.
– According to our knowledge, the occasional crash and slowing down of our website is due to the huge number of visits in a short period. Whenever there are events that cause a lot of interest among the public, the website slows down – said Branko Geroski.
META contacted the telephone and cable internet providers, which claim they had no technical problems, but that it is only a matter of traffic congestion.
– Yesterday, the entire traffic in the network of VIP took place regularly and without any interruptions – say representatives of VIP.
Representatives of the mobile operator ONE said that internet was not weak yesterday, but that it slowed down due to the excessive load.
Representatives of the cable operator Telekabel say that, at that time, they had no technical problems or interruptions in Skopje, nor had applications from citizens.
Yesterday, at one point during the press conference of SDSM, news aggregator “Tajm.mk” had 5,766 visits to the website. This, as information, was yesterday posted on Twitter by Igor Trajkovski, founder of “Tajm.mk”.
Social network Twitter was the fastest medium through which the details from the press conference SDSM leader Zoran Zaev were presented.
Twitter profile called “Macedonia Trending” measures the most popular topics, tweets and tweeters in Macedonia, which are generated by computer. According to him, yesterday’s most popular hashtags were #бомба, #ОставкаЗаТодоров, #ТикТакТикТак, #ДоброУтро, #Ж, #Тамара and #ПравдаЗаТамара. There are overall 541 tweets on the hashtag #Тамара for young Tamara from Veles who died yesterday.
