Bogov: No need for outside assistance due to the Greek crisis

-

To prevent the possible impact of the crisis in Greece, the Macedonian banks do not need outside help, but access to the instruments of refinancing of the European Central Bank can serve as a good support if necessary, said Governor of the National Bank of Macedonia Dimitar Bogov.

– We don’t expect Macedonia to need any outside assistance. We believe that the domestic banking sector is resistant, but there is always good to have options open – Bogov stated in an interview with Reuters.

But, says the Governor of the Central Bank, it is unclear whether the instruments of the European Central Bank will also apply to non-EU countries.

– If applicable, it would be the perfect support, feels Bogov.

European Central Bank announced that it would strengthen the capacities and possibilities for financial support in Bulgaria, which could help other countries in the region to prevent a spillover of the crisis in Greece.
