Berlin: The parties can no longer test the International Community’s patience

-

Berlin is “extremely concerned about the internal political situation in Macedonian”, said the German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth from Brussels. He stressed that the country needs to meet two requirements urgently, firstly, to create conditions for democratic and free elections, and to fully support the Special Prosecutor’s Office.

“The political parties should not test the patience of the international community and the European Union anymore and must achieve concrete results. Macedonia should not be moving away from Europe, the country has to return the path towards the EU”, stated Roth.

Germany insisted that the current situation in Macedonia be put on the agenda for the meeting of Foreign Ministers in Brussels.

Two weeks ago the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter-Steinmeier chose Johannes Haindl as a special envoy for Macedonia. Haindl is also Germany’s current Ambassador in Vienna and has already visited the country twice.
