As soon as they recovered their full salaries back, the judges will donate 20% in the fund for fighting the coronavirus

When the Constitutional Court temporarily annulled the Government decree for payment of minimal wages for judges during April and May, the Association of Judges issued a press release that it will donate at least 20% of their full salaries for April and May to the account of the Solidarity Fund for Fighting the Covid-19 virus.

The Association of Judges is pleased of the fact that the Constitutional Court has passed a decision for starting a procedure for evaluation of the constitutionality of government’s decree that planned all state officials, judges and prosecutors to receive minimal monthly wage of 14.500 during April and May.

“Starting from the Constitutional Court’s Decision, and regarding the submitted Initiative, the Association of Judges’ Executive Board expects for legal arguments to prevail during the procedure, by abiding to the rule of law and the legal state” said the press release.

The Association states it has accepted the seriousness of the country’s situation due to the coronavirus pandemic and therefore the Association’s Executive Board has decided to recommend the judges to give at least 20% of their salary. The implementation will be voluntary as an individual act by each of the judges.

“The Managing Board proposes this activity to be implemented through Association’s branches in cooperation with the presidents of courts and judges” said the press release issued by the Association of Judges.
