The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Naser Nuredini, received the representatives of the civic initiative “Stop Rusino” and the Mayor of the Municipality of Gostivar Arben Taravari. The meeting was also attended by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and representatives of the project for establishing an Integrated regional system for waste management in the Polog region.
The attendees have agreed that Mayor Taravari must immediately sign the building permit for the start of the implementation of the rapid measures for reconstruction and improvement of the infrastructure in the Rusino landfill.
“The second phase encompasses the building of a standard landfill with installation for waste treatment, the building of transfer stations, procurement of trucks for waste collecting and transport, acquiring container for waste selection, and complete closure of the existing 74 illegal landfills in the region,” said the press release issued by the Ministry of Environment.
