A total of 139.009 employed in the public sector

In the state administration, local self-government, and public enterprises, 139.009 employees were registered in the joint-stock companies under state ownership. Without temporary employment and without employees in joint-stock companies, there are 128,722 employees across 1,299 institutions, said Minister of Information Society and Administration Damjan Mancevski at today’s briefing.

Although the Register of Public Sector Employees is not fully functional, for which 2.15 million Euros were set aside in 2014 and 2015, the Ministry of Information Society and Administration (MISA) obtained the figures by crossing data from the Public Revenue Office (PRO), the Employment Agency, Temporary Employment Agencies and the Health Insurance Fund.

Without the ARM, the Ministry of Interior and the Intelligence Agency, the number of employees from state and local authorities is 109,304, while 8,633 people from the total number are employed in state-owned joint-stock companies.

According to the data, from the total number of 139,009 people receiving salaries from the state budget, 59,96% are employed locally, and 40,03% at a central level. From this, 54% are women, and 46% are men.
