The ruling party, the VMRO-DPMNE today celebrate their 26th birthday.
Under the slogan “Ideas and final pieces- stronger than everything,” celebrations will be held tonight at 20:00 outside the Museum of VMRO.
Since the formation of the party, so far, the VMRO-DPMNE has had two leaders, Ljupco Georgievski, who was in charge until May 2003, then the former Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski came into the forefront. Georgievski remained in the party as ‘Honorary President’ until 2004, when due to disagreement over one of Gruevski’s policy’s he withdrew from the mother party and formed his own VMRO-People’s Party.
The VMRO-DPMNE is one of the two major political parties in Macedonia and has been in power since 2006.
The party’s ideology of the original VMRO Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization is their heir, who were created in 1893.
After the formation of the VMRO-DPMNE, they were the first party to officially declare an independent Macedonian state.
