With guerrilla action to raise awareness against mass wiretapping, the Foundation for Internet and Society “Metamorphosis” have involved themselves in the actions of the international movement “Freedom Not Fear”.
As part of the action, a van with a large satellite dish, with the words “Freedom Not Fear” written on it, which was to symbolize the so-called “Foreign Services” paid a visit to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, Macedonian Radio-Television, the SDSM headquarters and the building which houses the SEC and several other ministries.
Activists distributed leaflets to passersby, which read “Mass Wiretapping – Directorate for Security and Counterintelligence. Presented by Macedonian Telecom”. They also handed out stickers for mobile phones which read, “This device is being wiretapped” and “Spying device”.
The international movement “Freedom Not Fear” stands for three basic principles:
- Freedom of speech in the digital world and uncensored internet
- Privacy in a society based on knowledge, rather than wiretapping
- Free movement, instead of fear.
International Action Days this year will be held from October 14-October 17.
Macedonia participated in “Freedom Not Fear” in 2008.
