Kocijancic: EC does not comment in early stages of court proceedings

-

The European Commission expects all court proceeding in the country to be  conducted with the utmost respect of the principles of national and international law and in accordance with the European Convention on Human Rights, said for ‘Meta’ Maya Kocijancic, spokeswoman for Commissioner Johannes Hahn.

Kocijanchich did not want to comment on yesterday’s decision by the Basic Court of Skopje 1, where audio recordings and transcripts from the infamous “Bombshells” were thrown out of court as evidence, especially since it is not the final judgment on the case.

“The European Commission does not comment on individual court cases, especially in its early stages and have are still in motion” – Kocijancic said, adding that the European Commission expects the special prosecutor to be appointed and fully carry out its function in accordance with the Przhino Agreement .

Today the opposition, SDSM stated that yesterday’s decision made by the Basic Court Skopje 1 was illegal, noting that the court has no right to act upon requests made by Nikola Gruevski and his associates at this stage in court proceedings.

The party believes that the High Courts are responsible for these judges actions, and should have the power to overturn the judge’s rulings.
