Zaev is not certain anymore whether the name dispute can be resolved in 2018

-

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev didn’t want to be adamant whether the name dispute will be solved during 2018 because the talks are at the very start.

-From the first moment, the government has been preparing the terrain for finding a solution through building friendly relations with all of our neighbors including Greece. There is a friendly ambiance and a positive moment, but there aren’t any details yet for starting of any kind of developing moments that would lead to a solution. So far, we are on a level that denotes positive conditions for both sides – said Zaev, while attending the joint press conference with the mayor of Thessaloniki, Yiannis Boutaris.

When asked whether the government will remain on its stance to organize a referendum regarding the name, the Prime Minister said that this issue will be solved along with the opposition, the Parliament, the president of the state, Macedonian institutions and, certainly, the citizens’ opinion will be asked for.

Boutaris invited the Macedonian Prime Minister Zaev to come to a private visit to Thessaloniki and to celebrate New Years’ holidays together. The Macedonian Prime Minister thanked for the invitation and said that he will do some serious thinking about celebrating New Year’s Eve with the mayor of Thessaloniki and the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
