We both expressed hopes to continue the cooperation between North Macedonia and Greece, and we look forward to our first meeting as prime ministers. I confirmed our stance that Greece is our strategic partner with which we are developing cooperation and we are building permanent friendship, and I expressed gratitude for the support that our neighbor is providing for the membership into NATO and the start of the EU negotiations” wrote Zaev on his Facebook profile.
During the conversation, he has sent a recommendation and congratulations on the successful democratic elections.
“I use this opportunity to send big gratitude to the former Prime Minister of Greece and Syriza leader, Tsipras, for the cooperation which helped to put the basis of a permanent friendship between our countries and a basis for a new type of Balkans, including the courage that we invested in order to solve the dispute that hindered the bilateral relations between our countries and nations for the past 27 years” said Zaev.
