Minister for Education and Science Abdilakim Ademi today held a meeting with the head of the Islamic Community in Macedonia, Reis ul Ulema Hadzi Efendi Sulejman Rexhepi, on which they discussed the possibility of religious educational institutions to be part of the educational system.
– In almost all countries in the region, religious schools are within the educational system, because they are important to society and the state. That is the goal – these schools to become part of the educational system of the Republic of Macedonia, which means to be registered as schools. They are not currently enrolled in the registry and students there do not take graduation, and because of that, they are limited to enroll in college. We want to overcome these problems together with religious communities – stated Minister Ademi, adding that the issue may be regulated by a special law or by amending the Law on Secondary Education.
Head Rexhepi said that the Islamic community always insisted future staff not to be from outside but from the country – high school students and those with a college education, and even with post graduate studies.
– Then there will be no chance to transmit something foreign and from abroad on this soil – said the head of IRC.
