The speed of the Constitutional Court’s action and its non-transparent deliberation were largely unprecedented, the US Embassy stated for „Сакам да кажам“.
“Institutions build trust through transparency and adherence to established procedures. The Court’s actions appear to be contrary to its own procedures. Moreover, to address concerns identified in the Priebe report regarding electoral irregularities, and to deliver ‘free and fair elections, in full compliance with European standards,’ as envisioned in the Przino agreement, Macedonia’s institutions must demonstrate a commitment to those standards, including a seriousness about deterring, detecting, and when it occurs, punishing electoral fraud. Unfortunately, many in Macedonia interpret the timing and the closed, expedited nature of the court’s decision as expanding impunity for electoral abuses. This does not help build citizen trust in the system” the US Embassy said.
