Tsipras agreeing next steps, the Greeks celebrate at Syntagma

-

Supporters of the policy of SYRIZA loudly celebrate at Syntagma Square, while Greek government is in session and contacts European leaders. According to information, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has already spoken with Chancellor Angela Merkel on her meeting with French President Francois Hollande on the Greek situation tomorrow. Tsipras is expected to talk with other European leaders during the night to work out the next steps for a potential deal.

With 55 percent of votes counted from the referendum, the big difference between the votes for and against measures remains. 61.3 percent of voters voted “no”, while 38.7 percent voted “yes”. As votes are being counted, the difference between the votes for and against the austerity measures is growing. SYRIZA supporters and voters who were against measures are euphorically celebrating at Syntagma, pleased that people finally proved that it wants independence and an end to attempts to be run over by European lenders and recessive measures.

For now, it is still unclear what will happen tomorrow and what will be the concrete steps. Government spokesman Gabriel Sakelaridis announced that the government will work towards immediate reaching an agreement.
