Tonight Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski in a public address, announced that tomorrow morning he will submit his resignation to the President of Parliament Trajko Veljanoski.
“Tomorrow I will send a letter to the President of Parliament with my resignation as the president of the Government which will be activated 100 days before the election. This resignation represents the strength of our conviction and belief in democracy. Our goal is clean elections that will give no more room for excuses from anyone. We are convinced that what we do is for the good of the country”, said Gruevski.
Before announcing his resignation Gruevski said it was very important to end the crisis and that he and his party VMRO-DPMNE have fulfilled and respected the Przhino Agreement.
Gruevski did not mention when exactly early elections will be held. Under the Przhino Agreement, they are scheduled for April 24.
With the wording “the resignation of the President of the Government will be activated 100 days before elections,” Gruevski has indirectly left room to move elections to another date.
