The number of COVID-19 deaths in North Macedonia surpassed 7 000

The Health Ministry of North Macedonia informed yesterday afternoon that since the start of the current pandemic, 7 021 people died form COVID-19 in the country. In the previous 24 hours, 11 new COVID-deaths were registered, including a 35-year old patient from the city of Prilep.

However, in the same time period three previous COVID-19 deaths were reported by the My Term system, which occurred between the 13th of October and the 19th of October 2021. The deceased were from Kriva Palanka, Kumanovo and Gevgelija, aged 52 to 95, yesterday’s press release informs.

In the 24-hour period between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon, from the 3 073 conducted tests, 490 new cases of COVID-19 were discovered.

The highest number of the new cases are from the capital Skopje – 223, and the city with second highest number of new infections is Kumanovo, with 38, followed by Prilep with 33, then Veles with 32 and Shtip with 24. The rest of the cities reported 20 or less new cases.

In the same 24-hour period, 201 patients recovered and three patients died.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, 198 646 people tested positive and the number of the patients who recovered is 185 660, and the number of the active cases is 5 974, informed the Health Ministry of North Macedonia.
